Gadani Power Project was basically an MOU signed between Pakistan and China. In all MOUs feasibility report is the first step. If project is found feasible, then original work starts. But political government begin to announce it as a great initiative while in all practicality it has no legal or practical value. Less than 10% MOUs are materialized. Many engineers and scientists already called it an impractical project. Gadani is not a good location for such project due to the distance from the commercial port of kimari and Port Qasim. . Even if we use very good quality Indonesian coal, to run 6600 MW plant we need 90,000 tons of coal per day.. Or say 3000 special 60 Ft long , high ceiling open container trucks… This is next to impossible to be handled by any of our port .. Just to give feeling, 3000 containers in a line traveling on the road will queue 100 Km long convoy.. can our roads handle it? This is why this project is cancelled.
